The Karnataka State Cricket Association on Friday said they are completely prepared to host the IPL final after the Chinnaswamy Stadium was identified as the primary option.
In a meeting between IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla and representatives of the Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in New Delhi on Friday, it was decided to allot IPL's final to Bengaluru. The City is scheduled to host Qualifier 1 too.
The second Qualifier and the Eliminator, on the other hand, have been proposed to be moved to Kolkata to implement the Bombay High Court's order that asked the BCCI to shift all the IPL matches after April 30 from Maharashtra.
"We will be very happy to stage the final," KSCA spokesperson Vinay Mrityunjaya told DH.
"We are looking forward to the opportunity. Even in 2014, when Bengaluru was awarded the final (after being shifted from Mumbai), we pulled off a superb show," he added. In Friday's meeting, RPS and MIwere asked to pick from Raipur, Jaipur, Visakhapatnam and Kanpur as their alternate home base.
While Pune opted for Visakhapatnam, Mumbai Indians sought two days' time to choose their new base.
